Satellite Visibility & Iridium Flare Page

To view what is happening in the world of satellites, check out one of the 'Heavens-Above' satellite prediction sites listed below. Whether you are looking for Iridium flare predictions for the next 7 days, an overhead satellite pass, or tracking a flyby of the Shuttle or ISS, click the link below that is closest to your viewing location. Be aware that satellite passes and Iridium flares are very distance sensitive to a certain location. A magnitude -8 Iridium flare at your location could be a faint magnitude 3 blip from the other side of town, so be precise!

If you are working on the Astronomical League's Satellite Observing Program, the sites below will get you all of the information you need to accomplish the tasks in the program. Be careful though! The Heavens-Above site is *very* comprehensive - it is not run from the United States and does list 'classified' US military satellites that are *NOT* valid targets for the program!

If your favorite observing site is not listed here but you would like to see it added to the list, send me an e-mail giving me the the exact latitude and longitude of the site as well as a name to go with it.

Timing satellite passes requires very good accuracy. If you would like to set your watch to the exact time, follow this link to the United States Naval Observatory Master Clock.
